Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address Ratings Down From Last Year

January 31, 2018 | Posted by Joseph Lee

TVLine reports that President Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address was down in the ratings from his speech to a joint session of Congress last year. It aired on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, earning 19.8 million viewers. This was down 16% from last year’s address.

To compare his numbers to other Presidents, President Barack Obama’s numbers dropped between his first address to Congress and his first official State of the Union address. President George W. Bush did not fall in the ratings, however, as his speech came four months after 9/11.

Trump’s speech had 47.7 million viewers on 11 total outlets once cable and PBS were included. The final ratings will arrive this afternoon.
