There was a new #1 in the Netflix viewing charts this week, with Don’t Look Up racing to the top spot in its debut. The satrical sci-fi comedy claimed the #1 spot in its first week with 111.03 million views for the week ending December 27th despite only being released for three days.

Don’t Look Up featured the strength of a major set of stars in the ensemble cast including Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet and many more. The Adam McKay-directed film has survived some polarizing reactions critically; it stands at a 55% aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes while the audience score is better at 77%. The buzz built off Netflix’s marketing of the film certainly boosted it; it remains to be seen how long it can hold onto the top spot.
