That Fresh Prince of Bel-Air dramatic re-imagining is headed to Peacock for two seasons. Will Smith announced on his YouTube account that Peacock has given the series a full two-season order, noting that they just closed the deal from the pitch.

Smith added, “I’ve been in the business for thirty years and that does not happen. They ordered two full seasons of Bel-Air based on the quality of the pitch and the work that you guys [Morgan Cooper & Chris Collins] have done. I want to say congratulations! I am hyped!”

The new series is co-executive produced and co-written by Cooper and Collins and is titled Bel-Air based on the video from Morgan that went viral in March of last year. The series will be a serialized one-hour dramatic take on the iconic 1990s sitcom, following the original premise of the show as Will makes his journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to Bel-Air. The new show will dig deeper into the conflicts, emotions and biases that the sitcom could only lightly touch on.
