Ezra Miller is making a play to stay on as The Flash, writing a script for the film alongside Grant Morrison. THR reports that Miller and Morrison are writing a draft that could end up being the determining factor on whether the actor retains the role he played in Justice League.

According to the site, the new script is the result of diverging creative visions for the film. Warner Bros. currently favors the more light-hearted approach from the script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Spider-Man: Homecoming). That direction is the same as Aquaman and the upcoming Shazam!. However, Miller wants a darker take on the film and has been working with Warners on a compromise.

Miller is reportedly very committed to the character took the rare initiative to try and take on the story himself, teaming with Morrison for the script. Warners hired the two to write their take, which could be submitted as early as next week.

If Warner Bros. ultimately chooses to go with the original take, Miller could depart the project. And in addition, Warners’ holding deal with Miller on the character expires in May. The site notes that Miller is still a presence on the Warners lot despite the clash, and is expected to film the third installment in Fantastic Beasts later this year.
