In brightest day, in darkest night, no evil shall escape their sight! DC Studios and HBO Max released a new teaser trailer today for the upcoming comic book series, Lanterns. The newly revealed trailer offers a deeper look at the story, as Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) seek to unravel a dark mystery in the American heartland.

The new trailer also showcases the return of Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner. Fillion previously appeared as the character in last year’s Superman and also in Peacemaker Season 2. Also, the new teaser offers viewers their first glimpse at Laura Linney in the series in a mystery role.

The show also stars Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones. The series’ pilot is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, who are co-creators for the series. Mundy serves as showrunner.

The first two episodes of Lanterns are directed by James Hawes, with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov also directing episodes in the first season. The show is executive-produced by Mundy, Lindelof, King, James Gunn, Peter Safran, Ron Schmidt, and Hawes. It’s based on the DC Comics and characters appearing in the Green Lantern comic.

The series is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios. Lanterns debuts on August 16 on HBO. It will also stream on HBO Max. You can check out the new teaser trailer below:
