HBO in Talks With Bong Joon-ho For Parasite Limited Series

Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is a dark horse to score at the Oscars, and now it could become an HBO limited series. Deadline reports that the film, which won Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globes last weekend, is the subject of negotiations between HBO, Bong and Adam McKay for a seties based on the film.

Bong has been looking to do a Parasite limited series and several top streamers including Netflix were in pursuit before Bong chose HBO and McKay, who has a first-look deal at HBO/HBO Max. The film centers on the members of a poor family who together scheme to work in a wealthy household by posing as unrelated, highly qualified help.

In addition to being a strong performer in an awards capacity, Parasite has scored at the box office with $23.9 million domestically in the US and $128.9 million worldwide against an $11.8 million budget.
