Production on the long-gestating Highlander reboot has been pushed to next year after Henry Cavill suffered an injury. THR reports that Cavill, who is set to play Connor MacLeod in modern fantasy restart, suffered an undetermined injury in pre-production which has pushed the shoot from its scheduled start this month.

The film will now begin filming at the start of 2026. Chad Stahelski is directing the film, which is with Amazon MGM Studios after having spent years in development at Lionsgate.

Cavill will star alongside Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou and Max Zhang. The film will retell the story of the immortal Connor MacLeod and does not yet have a release date.
