It Follows Getting Sequel, Maika Monroe Returning

The 2014 new horror classic It Follows has a sequel in the works, with star Maika Monroe set to return. NEON has announced that They Follow will release in 2024 with writer-director David Robert Mitchell returning to continue the story and Monroe reprising her role as Jay Height from the first movie.

The original film saw Monroe play Jay, a young woman who finds herself pursued by a malevolant supernatural force after a sexual encounter with a guy who, it turns out, is also being followed by the force. The film was a critical and commercial hit, grossing $23.3 million against a $1.3 million budget.

Neon is launching sales for the film this week at the American Film Market, and a 2024 production start is being looked at. Plot details are not yet known regarding the new film.
