Johnny Depp Reportedly Struck Crew Member On New Film

The Huffington Post reports that Johnny Depp has been accused of punching a crew member on the set of his new film City of Lies (formerly called Labyrinth, due out in September). Location manager Gregg “Rocky” Brooks filed a lawsuit against Depp on Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, which you can read here.

Brooks claims that Depp punched him in the ribs on April 13 of last year after Brooks said that filming would have to wrap for the day. He said production had a permit to film until 7 PM outside the Barclay Hotel in Los Angeles and until 10 PM inside. They got an extension to shoot outside until 10 PM, and at 10:50 PM they were asked to make the shot they were doing the last one of the day. Brooks said he told director Brad Furman they had to wrap, who told him to tell Depp. Depp was directing the scene that was being shot. Brooks wanted a on-set cop to go with him, but before he could, Depp yelled: “Who the fuck are you? You have no right to tell me what to do!

Brooks said he tried to explain his job and the city permits, but Depp yelled at him and punched him two times in the lower left side of his rib cage. Brooks said that Depp smelled like alcohol. Brooks was fired three days later, after he refused to sign a release over his right to sue. He wants an unspecified amount of money for actual and punitive damages.
