411mania was on hand for today’s Disney+ press conference for the upcoming Star Wars live-action TV series, The Mandalorian. During today’s press conference, the panel confirmed that both Jon Favreau and Carl Weathers will be directing upcoming episodes for the show’s second season.

The show’s second season is already in production. Jon Favreau confirmed that a second season was in the works earlier this year. The press conference revealed that during production for Season 1, Weathers was promised a slot to direct an episode for Season 2 if the show was renewed. Favreau, who serves creator, head writer, showrunner and executive producer for the series, also confirmed that he’s directing an episode. Another new director is also onboard for Season 2, which Favreau confirmed has begun filming. However, the staff was not ready to reveal who it is.

Season 1 directors for the series include Dave Filoni [who directs the first episode], Bryce Dallas Howard, Taika Waititi, Deborah Chow and Rick Famuyiwa. Filoni also serves as executive producer alongside Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is co-executive producer.

The series will bow on November 12, the same day as the service’s official launch. It stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog and Nick Nolte and is described as follows:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

New episodes for The Mandalorian will be released on a weekly basis. Disney+ marks the company’s first direct-to-consumer streaming service. In addition, check out the @411mania Twitter account to get more information from today’s press conference.
