Linda Blair is reportedly set to return to The Exorcist franchise in the upcoming revival film. Jeff Sneider reports for Above the Line that Blair, who famously played Regan MacNeil in the 1973 horror classic and its sequel Exorcist II: The Heretic, is reprising her role for the upcoming film directed by David Gordon Green.

The report notes that Blair was only on set for a few days and will not appear for much time in the film. A spokesperson for Blumhouse says that Blair “served as an advisor on the upcoming Exorcist film” but did not address whether she is actually in the film.

Blair, if she is returning, joins Ellen Burstyn as original cast members in the film. Burstyn played Regan’s mother in Chris in the original. The new cast members are Leslie Odom Jr., Ann Dowd, Lidya Jewett, Jennifer Nettles, Olivia Marcum, Raphael Sbarge, and Okwui Okpokwasili.

The film is written by Green and Peter Sattler from a story credited to Green, Danny McBride and Scott Teems. Production on the film wrapped earlier this month and an October 13th release is set. The film is intended to launch a new trilogy, with the report noting a script for the second film was recently submitted.
