Lindsey Beer Making Directorial Debut With Pet Sematary Sequel
Paramount’s Pet Sematary reboot is officially getting a sequel, which will be writer Lindsey Beer’s directorial debut. Deadline reports that Beer will direct the new film from a script she co-wrote with Jeff Buhler, who wrote the reboot.
Plot details aren’t yet known for the sequel, which was announced in February as an origin story to the Stephen King novel. The film will release on Paramount+.
The Pet Sematary reboot was released in 2019 and starred Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, and John Lithgow. Adapting King’s story about a doctor who raises his child from the dead using an ancient burial ground, only to find out that “sometimes, dead is better.” It earned middling reviews but grossed $113.1 million worldwide against a production budget of just $21 million.
