Lionsgate has signed a new deal that will bring their films exclusively to Peacock in the Pay-Two window starting with their 2022 slate. THR reports that the studio signed a multiyear deal with NBCUniversal that will bring films like The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, John Wick: Chapter 4 to Peacock and NBCUniversal networks in the second pay window. This means that the films will be available exclusively on the services starting in 2024.

The “Pay Two” window is a later window of availability that follows after the schedule of theatrical release, then VOD, then Subscription VOD (i.e. streaming) and Pay TV. This is the distribution point that often sees films air for second runs on premium cable networks like HBO, Showtime, and Starz before they eventually arrive on ad-supported cable channels.

“These agreements affirm the great demand for first-run studio movies across every kind of platform — AVOD, SVOD, basic cable, and FAST,” Lionsgate president of worldwide television distribution Jim Packer said in a statement.

Val Boreland, executive VP of content acquisition, added, “Movies are among the most-streamed titles on Peacock, and we continue to expand our premium film offering from top studios, like Lionsgate, to ensure customers enjoy a steady stream of the biggest and best films to enjoy throughout the year.”
