According to a report by Geeks Worldwide, the next installment of the Mad Max series has been given the green light to start filming in Australia in the late fall. Last December, Miller revealed in an interview that he was planning to work on a new Mad Max film.

The new sequel has reportedly been given the green light. However, Tom Hardy returning to the titular role has not yet been announced. Miller is still attached to direct Three Thousand Years of Longing this year before he starts pre-production on the fifth movie in the series. Previously, the sequel was delayed due to legal issues, and George Miller had sued Warner Bros., citing an alleged unpaid bonus that was owed to his production company, Kennedy Miller Mitchell. It appears those legal issues have now been resolved.

Mad Max: Fury Road was released in May 2015. The film grossed $374 million worldwide and was also nominated for Best Picture and Best Director. the film did win six Academy Awards for editing, costume design, hair & makeup, sound mixing, sound editing, and production design.
