Mark Ruffalo has yet to have a solo outing as The Hulk in the MCU, and he says that’s something he’s still keen on. Ruffalo has played the role since The Avengers, with several other appearances under his belt. However, he has yet to have a film centered on the character, and he told GQ that it’s something he wants to have happen.

“I’d love to have a solo Hulk movie,” Ruffalo said (per Dark Horizons). “I don’t know if you know the story of that, but it’s not really owned by Marvel; it’s a Universal property.”

He continued, “I don’t know if it’ll ever really come to be, honestly. We keep talking about it, what it would be. There’s been so many Hulk movies already, it’s like, does anyone really want another one? But I’d love one, and I do think the audiences would be into it if we could crack the nut of it.”

Ruffalo will next play the role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The latest Sony and Marvel-produced MCU film will see him share the screen with Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, and Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the new film from a script by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases on July 31st, 2026.
