Blade is getting a delay in filming due to the Writer’s Guild of America strike. Deadline reports that Marvel Studios has pushed back production on the film, which stars Mahershala Ali as the titular character.

As reported last weekend, True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto was brought on to work on the script and he will not be able to do so during the strike. As such, the studio decided to shut down pre-production and postpone the filming. The studio is still moving forward on production for Thunderbolts and Deadpool 3 later this summer, while the current filming on Captain America: New World Order is continuing.

Yann Demange is directing Blade, which stars Ali along with Mia Goth and Delroy Lindo. The film is currently set for a 6th, 2024 premiere, though there’s no word on if that will change due to the strike.
