Matt Reeves Says The Penguin Will Lead Into The Batman 2

Production is gearing up on Colin Farrell’s The Penguin series, and Matt Reeves says the show will lead into The Batman 2. Farrell is set to reprise his role as Oswald Cobblepot from The Batman in the spinoff series, which was officially ordered by HBO Max back in March of last year. Reeves is an executive producer on the series, and told Collider that shooting begins soon, and that it will help set the stage for Reeves’ sequel film.

“We are very, very soon going to start shooting The Penguin with Colin,” Reeves said. “That is super exciting… There’s actually a whole little fabric of things we’re wanting to do, the way we’re doing with [the] Penguin and how that comes back into how that will lead into the sequel, and what that sequel is going to be.”

The Batman was one of the biggest hits of 2022, grossing $369.3 million domestically and $767.6 million worldwide. The spinoff series is set between the events of that film and the upcoming sequel and is written by Lauren LeFranc.
