A buddy action comedy pitch starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista has sparked a four-party bidding war that MGM is on the verge of winning. Deadline reports that Momoa and Bautista have been shopping the pitch, which comes from Jonathan Tropper (Apple TV+’s See), and that MGM is close to closing a deal on the film.

The site notes that the film comes from an original pitch by the stars and writer and will be developed by the studio, with lucrative deals for the trio kicking in in when the picture goes into production.

The pitch would see the two stars play brothers in a buddy cop comedy that would shoot in Hawaii. The story is described as “Lethal Weapon-esque” by the report. While the film doesn’t have a director, the hope is to fast-track the film for a 2023 production date.

Bautista and Momoa have been starring opposite each other in the current season of See and co-starred in Dune, though they did not appear on screen together.
