As previously reported, actor Michael Keaton is said to be in talks to return to the role of Batman for the first time in nearly 30 years since 1992’s Batman Returns in the upcoming planned movie for The Flash, which will be based on the Flashpoint storyline. Per THR Heat Vision, some new details have emerged on Keaton’s potential return.

Based on the latest report, Michael Keaton is in talks to reprise the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne, and not Thomas Wayne. In the Flashpoint storyline, The Flash (aka Barry Allen) encounters an alternate universe version of Batman who is actually Thomas Wayne. Wayne adopted the role of Batman after it turned out his son, Bruce, was gunned down in the alley instead of him and his wife, Martha. In this reality, Martha Wayne becomes The Joker.

Additionally, Thomas Wayne is currently not in the Flashpoint script at all, and the role would call for the 68-year-old Keaton to appear in costume as Batman again. So, it appears for now, the script is moving away from the Thomas Wayne as Batman elements.

The Flash does not yet have an official release date. The film is expected to start production in London in spring of 2021.
