Michael Pena Set to Star in Film Version of Fantasy Island
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Michael Pena is attached to star in an upcoming film adaptation of the popular ABC TV series, Fantasy Island. Pena will portray the character of Mr. Roarke, who was originally made famous by Ricardo Montalban in the original series.
Jeff Wadlow will co-write and direct the upcoming project for Blumhouse Productions about a magical, wish-fulfilling island. The new film will follow a group of guests who are warned by the overseer of the island, Mr. Roarke, that their fantasies may not turn out how they expect.
Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs are co-writing the script alongside Wadlow. Blumhouse and Sony Pictures will co-finance and co-produce the project. Wadlow is also set to executive produce the project with Blumhouse’s Couper Samuelson.
Ryan Turek is overseeing the film for Blumhouse, with Matt Milam overseeing the picture for Sony.
