If you were excited by the prospect of Michael Rooker playing King Shark, I have some bad news for you. Following the report last week that Rooker was in talked to play the DC villain in The Suicide Squad, the Guardians of the Galaxy alum took to Instagram to shoot down the reports.

Rooker, who has worked with director James Gunn several times in the past (including the Guardians film), said, “DA………..NOT!!!” He added in a comment on the post, “This is not true news… I am not cast in this movie.” Gunn himself chimed in with a simple, “Haha.”

While Rooker will not be appearing (unless he’s doing a misdirect), Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, and Daniela Melchior will be appearing in the film. They are playing Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Amanda Waller, an unknown role, Polka-Dot Man and Ratcatcher. John Cena is also rumored for the film, which is set for a August 6th, 2021 release date.
