Ms. Marvel is coming to Disney+ in the summer, and the first official trailer has revealed the exact date – as well as our first look at Kamala Khan and her powers. You can see the trailer below, which reveals that the MCU series will launch on June 8th.

The trailer gives us the first full look at Kamala (Iman Vellani), a Muslim Pakistani-American girl from New Jersey who gains superpowers. The series appears to be changing up Kamala’s power set and origin, with the trailer seeming to suggest she gets her powers through a pair of Kree bracers as opposed to Inhuman terrigenesis. Her traditional “Embiggening” powerset appears to have been altered into cosmic energy constructs.

The series also stars Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, and Laurel Marsden. It is written by Bisha K. Ali, who will serve as showrunner, and is described as follows:

Ms. Marvel introduces Kamala Khan—a 16-year-old Pakistani American from Jersey City. An aspiring artist, an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she is a huge fan of the Avengers—and one in particular, Captain Marvel. But Kamala has always struggled to find her place in the world—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to.
