Netflix Orders Edgar Allen Poe Series From Mike Flanagan

Mike Flanagan has done good business with Netflix, most recently with Midnight Mass, and he’s teaming with the service again for a series based on Edgar Allen Poe’s works. Deadline reports that Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Hush) is creating and will direct the series, which is a limited drama named The Fall of the House of Usher after one of Poe’s most famous short story.

PLot details have yet to be revealed. “The Fall of the House of Usher” was published in 1839 and is about a man who visits his childhood friend, Roderick Usher, at his manor house. The house is falling apart and the family is in decline, with just Roderick and his sister who are both unwell. A storm eventually hits the manor and things begin to fall apart for the Ushers, both physically and mentally.

Midnight Mass has become a big hit for Netflix since releasing on September 24th, and Flanagan’s Haunting of Hill House and Haunting of Bly Manor were major successes as well. Flanagan posted to Twitter to confirm Deadline’s report, writing:
