Deadline reports that Patrick Stewart has joined the cast of the upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot, where he’ll play the film’s second Bosley. The first is set to be played by Elizabeth Banks, who will also direct and wrote the script with Jay Besu. It also stars Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska as the titular detectives. Bosley also works for Charlie and serves as a liaison between the mysterious employer and the Angels. Charlie, who has not been cast, is also head of the Townsend Agency. He was voiced by John Forsythe in the original 1970s TV series.

The new film sees the Agency expand worldwide with several teams helping clients with security and and intelligence. The trio of Stewart, Scott and Balinska are just one of the teams. An earlier draft of the script was written by Craig Mazin and Semi Chellas. Banks will produce with Brownstone Productions’ Max Handelman, Doug Belgrad (2.0 Entertainment) and Elizabeth Cantillon. It will be released on September 27, 2019.
