Russell Crowe has revealed who he is playing in Thor: Love & Thunder. The actor spoke with Australian radio station Joy 94.9 for a new interview and in a clip released online (but now deleted), Crowe noted that he was in his last day of filming as the Olympian god Zeus.

“I’m going to get on my bicycle and I’m going to ride up to Disney Fox Studios,” said Crowe (per CS.net).. “Around 9:15, I shall be Zeus! It’s for Thor. It’s my last day of Zeus-ing about and I’m going to enjoy it.”

In Marvel Comics continuity, the Olympians are much like the Asgardians in that they are immortal gods who featured heavily in ongoing storylines. Hercules has been an Avenger for example, not to mention a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and other supergroups. Ares has also factored into major storylines and was a member of the Thunderbolts after the events of the comics’ Civil War event.

Crowe is part of a cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, and Taika Waititi. Directed by Waititi, the film will release on May 6th, 2022.
