Ryan Reynolds To Star In Adaptation Of Dragon’s Lair
The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Ryan Reynolds is in talks to star in a live-action version of the 1983 game Dragon’s Lair for Netflix. The game gave many kids fits when it was in the arcade due to its extreme level of difficulty. It’s also memorable for the animation in the game, which came from An American Tail‘s Don Bluth.
Netflix acquired the rights after a year in negotiations. Roy Lee will produce through Vertigo Entertainment with Trevor Engelson for Underground Films, Bluth, Gary Goldman and Jon Pomeroy. Reynolds will also produce through Maximum Effort. The script will be written by Dan and Kevin Hageman (The Lego Movie, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark).
The video game follows the knight Dirk the Daring, who has to rescue Princess Daphne from an evil dragon named Singe and the wizard Mordroc.
