During a recent interview with The Q&A Podcast, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse co-director Rodney Rothman recently shared some details on the film. He also confirmed that at one point, there was going to be a scene that had the Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire versions of Spider-Man all in the same scene. However, the scene was ultimately cut due to anxiety around that it could confuse viewers.

Rothman stated on the excised scene, “I wrote a scene that had every, that had Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the same scene and… I don’t want to get into it but I did write that scene, but there’s a lot of anxiety, there’s a lot of anxiety around the movie generally and there was anxiety about confusing people.”

The film did feature references to the past films, and including the infamous dancing scene from Spider-Man 3 starring Tobey Maguire. Tom Holland is the current actor portraying Spider-Man, who will next star in Spider-Man: Far From Home due out later this year. Andrew Garfield last starred in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man. Maguire portrayed the wall-crawler for his last outing in 2007’s Spider-Man 3.
