It looks like the previously planned standalone Star Wars Boba Fett movie has been officially scrapped. That appears to be the case according to Critics Choice Association Reporter Erick Weber, who spoke to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy at a special screening event for Marvel’s Black Panther this week. You can check out his tweet on the news below.

Director James Mangold was previously reported as attached to write and direct the standalone film for the legendary bounty hunter. However, after the box office failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Disney and Lucasfilm put its plans for future Star Wars spinoff movies on hold. Now, it appears any and all plans for the Boba Fett movie are now dead.

One would imagine this would potentially scrap any plans for a standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi adventure as well.

However, with the plans for the Boba Fett movie being killed off, Lucasfilm is now apparently moving its focus to The Mandalorian, a live-action Star Wars TV series that is slated to launch later next year to coincide with Disney’s new streaming service.

Meanwhile, Star Wars: Episode IX is due out December 20, 2019.
