The New Mutants Likely Headed Straight To Disney’s Streaming Service

The New Mutants looks like it will skip a theatrical release and go straight to Disney’s new streaming service that will be launching later this year, reports Vanity Fair (h/t HotNewHipHop). The film was originally supposed to be released in theaters but is one of several films that is being delayed or dropped from theatrical release due to the Disney/Fox merger. Dark Phoenix has also been delayed twice due to the merger.

The film stars Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and focuses on the Marvel group that features Cannonball, Sunspot, Magik, Wolfsbane, Warlock, and others. The movie was supposed to be the first “superhero horror film” but now James Gunn’s Brightburn, which is a horror-version of Superman’s origin, will likely be the first.
