Steve Rogers/Captain America is not the only OG Avenger returning for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday sequel. Marvel Studios finally released the new teaser trailer for the upcoming movie featuring the return of the God of Thunder himself, Thor (Chris Hemsworth).

This is the new teaser trailer that also played in theaters in front of Avatar: Fire & Ash when it was released in theaters earlier this month. The trailer acknowledges where the MCU left things with Thor at the end of Thor: Love & Thunder, with Thor becoming the new guardian and adoptive father of the orphaned Love (India Rose Hemsworth), the daughter of Gorr the Godbutcher (Christian Bale).

However, now with Thor facing a new threat, the Almighty Asgardian says a prayer in the name of his late father, the All-Father Odin (Anthony Hopkins), to give him the strength to fight again once more. Thor remarks in the trailer, “Lend me the strength of the All-Fathers…so that I may fight once more. Defeat one more enemy and return home to her. Not as a warrior but as warmth. To teach her not battle but stillness. The kind I never knew. Please, Father, heed my words.”

Avengers: Doomsday also stars Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, and Chris Evans, who reprises his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America. The Marvel Studios feature, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
