Tom Holland is looking forward to starting up production on Uncharted and had some pretty high praise for the video game adaptation’s script. Holland, who is set to play a young Nathan Drake in the upcoming film, spoke with IGN and discussed how the film does something very different than the typical video game movie.

“I think what Uncharted offers that most video games films don’t is that it’s an origin story to the games,” Holland said. “So if you played the games, you haven’t seen what’s going to happen in the film. And if you haven’t played the games, you’re going to enjoy the film because it’s information that everyone else is getting at the same time. But I’m super excited to make that movie and it’s been a long time coming.”

Holland added, “I read the newest draft of the script on the way over here and it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. It really, really jumps off the page.”

The film will star Holland as Nathan alongside Mark Wahlberg as Sully, Nathan’s mentor. It is currently without a director, having lost Travis Knight (the film’s sixth director) in December. It is set to release on March 5th, 2021 — assuming that a new director is found and sticks around this time.
