Universal Developing New Jason Bourne Film

Universal is jumping back into the world of Jason Bourne, developing a new film in the spy franchise. Variety reports that the studio is in early development on a new film in the series with Edward Berger in talks to direct. Berger earned raves with his adaptation of All Quiet on the Western Front, which won four Academy Awards and was nominated for another five including Best Picture.
The report makes clear that the film is still early in development and there is no script or writer attached at this time. As such, there’s no word on whether original cast members may return or if it will feature entirely new characters. Matt Damon starred in the first three films in the franchise and the fifth, while Jeremy Renner starred in 2012’s The Bourne Legacy as Aaron Cross.
The Bourne films have grossed over $1.6 billion domestically at the box office.
