Val Kilmer Confirmed For Top Gun 2 Return

Val Kilmer has been confirmed to be reprising his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in Top Gun 2. The Wrap reports that Kilmer will return to the franchise to play Maverick’s longtime rival in the upcoming sequel.

Joseph Kosinski is set to direct Top Gun 2 from a scriupt by Peter Craig, Justin Marks and Eric Warren Singer. No title has yet been revealed for the film, which will take place an appropriate amount of time after the 1986 original. Tom Cruise is returning as Maverick, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously said that the film will deal with the rise of unmanned drones and pilots becoming a thing of the past.

The film is set to release on July 12th, 2019.
