Zack Snyder has shared his thoughts on the Batman & Catwoman Harley Quinn sex scene controversy, and his response was…certainly a choice. As you likely know by now (along with the rest of the internet-using world), DC Comics has been roundly mocked after it was revealed that they nixed a scene from Harley Quinn season three in which Batman was going down on Catwoman, with co-creator Justin Halprin revealing that the company told him, “Heroes don’t do that” and “It’s hard to sell a toy if Batman is also going down on someone.”

Val Kilmer and others previously weighed in, and now the Justice League and Batman V Superman director decided to declare what is apparently canon in his universes. He shared a piece of art that rather…well, graphically (though not quite explicitly) depicts that very act, declaring it “CANON.” (This is your warning that, while not explicit, it’s probably NSFW.)

For clarity, this is not a panel that appears to be from any comic book, so it’s not DC Comics canon. That said, several DC creators who have written the character have weighed in and to put it lightly, they have generally disagreed with the assessment that this is not something the Dark Knight eschews.
