411s NWA:TNA Xplosion Report 08.29.04
If you hadn’t noticed, there was no report last week. That was not my fault, though, as there didn’t seem to be a new Xplosion episode.
I DON’T THINK YOU’RE READY FOR THIS!
Mike Tenay, sans the leather jacket, and that blonde beacon of joy, open the show.
Shark Boy & D-Ray 3000 vs. TJ Harley & Matt Catalano – The jobbers, who seem to be a tag team together as they have matching outfits, don’t get an entrance. Catalano and D-Ray open the match up. Catalano throws D-Ray down to the mat by his fro. D-Ray blocks a hiptoss and gets in one of his town. Armdrag from D-Ray, who tags in Shark Boy with the hold still applied. Cute little double team move where D-Ray holds Catalano’s while Shark Boy bites his ass, with the two of them Russian legsweeping him immediately after. TJ Harley runs in, but promptly gets dropkicked to the floor. Shark Boy boots Catalano in the face, but when he tries a clothesline, he gets backdropped to the floor. Harley gets a shot in before throwing Shark Boy back into the ring. Fisherman’s suplex by Catalano is only good enough for two. Harley tags in. He pounds away on Shark Boy in the corner, and distracts the ref. This, of course, allows Catalano to choke Shark Boy with the ringrope. Shark Boy gains a brief advantage, but a swinging neckbreaker stops that. Shark Boy catches Harley with a dropkick when Harley goes off the top rope. D-Ray tags in. Clotheslines for everyone. Flying forearm to Harley gets two. Shark Boy and D-Ray get the ten punches in opposite corners. Afroram to both men. D-Ray sends Harley right into Shark Ray, who plants Harley with the DSD. That, of course, finishes things at 4:35. Nice to see a match go over four minutes.
Clips of the Team Canada/Dusty Rhodes/Vince Russo/3LK clusterfuck of an angle.
Abyss (w/o Goldylocks) vs. Michael Adrian – In an event that hasn’t been seen for quite a while, Adrian actually gets the upper hand on Abyss from the beginning. He knocks Abyss out of the ring, gains a few shots, but ultimately gets thrown into the guardrail. Don puts it, “He physically matched up for about fifteen seconds.” Back in the ring, Abyss continues to dominate Adrian. Abyss runs into an elbow, but in turn, Adrian runs straight into a hard clothesline. Big corner clothesline from Abyss. Off the ropes, and WHAM BAM BLACK HOLE SLAM ends the match at 2:00. Usual little squash. It was nice to have the jobber get in some offense at the beginning for once.
Scott Hudson’s interview with Konnan & BG James is shown, which shows them not being too happy with the actions of Vince Russo & Team Canada.
More hype for this stupid Vince Russo/Dusty Rhodes feud.
NWA World Tag Team Champions The Naturals vs. Jeremy V and Jason Piccaro – Jeremy starts off by getting the better of O’Reilly after a lock-up. O’Reilly rebounds with a knee to the gut, quickly planting Jeremy with a short arm clothesline. Douglas tags in, but Jeremy V is able to get the upper hand. He gets a jumping knee in the corner in, but Douglas is able to get in a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. O’Reilly tags in, and they double-team the helpless V. Backbreaker to V gets two. O’Reilly throws V into Douglas’ boot for two. Douglas tags in after a snap suplex from O’Reilly. Douglas misses an elbowdrop, which allows Piccaro to tag in. A few dropkicks by Piccaro are not enough to stop the Naturals, though, as before he knows it, it’s Natural Disaster time. That’s it at 3:30.
Scott Hudson’s interview with Monte/y Brown is shown. It really doesn’t matter, because whether he says it or not, the highlight of things is the POOOOOOOOUNCE!
Some more hype for Jeff Hardy/Jeff Jarrett ends the program.
Tonight on what is bound to be one of the last Wednesday night PPVs from NWA TNA…
In an Asylum Street Fight, AJ Styles and Ron Killings will take on Kid Kash and Dallas
The Naturals will hopefully retain their NWA Tag Team Titles when they face America’s Most Wanted and Triple X in a Triple Threat Match
Petey Williams is set to defend his X Title against Sonjay Dutt
BG James, Konnan, and a new member of 3LK will try to take out Scott D’Amore’s Team Canada.
After returning last week, Erik Watts will team up with Sonny Siaki to try and free D-Ray 3000 and Shark Boy from the clutches of Goldylocks. To this, the two will have to defeat the team of Abyss and Alex Shelley.
Finally, Kazarian and Michael Shane will face Amazing Red and Chris Sabin.
