As previously reported, former wrestler and founding member of the Midnight Express, Dennis Condrey, has passed away at 74 years old. His passing was confirmed by AEW wrestler and Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood of FTR, who also set up a GoFundMe campaign to cover his funeral expenses.
The tag team wrestling trailblazer competed across the industry from his debut in 1973 over multiple decades. FTR’s Dax Harwood wrote the following tribute to his late friend:
“My Friend, Dennis.
GoFundMe set up in his memory in my bio.
Greatest of All Time scenarios will always be a hot button for debate. However, when it comes to greatest tag teams of all time, almost always is The Midnight Express brought up. I’ve watched my fair share of tag team matches; maybe more than anyone! I can tell you with absolute honesty and sincerity, I’ve never seen a better Tag Team than Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton.
Over the last 5 years, Dennis has allowed me the privilege of being a friend. Seeing him and His beautiful wife Theresa always made me feel like I was part of their family.
Dennis and I would text after every match I had. He would always tell me what he liked and what he felt I could work on. That is something that’ll never be lost on me. One of my heroes loved me enough to take time out of his day to let me know how proud he was of me.
I loved that man and I’ll do everything I possibly can over the next few years I have left in the business, to keep his and the Midnight Express’ spirit alive. They paved this road so all other tag teams could walk easier.
God Bless a true Pioneer of Professional Wrestling
Rest in Peace ‘Loverboy’ Dennis Condrey.”
Additionally, AEW wrote, “AEW and the wrestling world are mourning the passing of Loverboy Dennis Condrey, one-half of the legendary Midnight Express. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends and fans during this difficult time.”
Their statements, plus other tributes from talents and pros from across the industry regarding Condrey, can be viewed below:

Godspeed, Dennis Condrey.
Tag Team Wrestling is an art form in our industry. Its timing, pace, and psychology a beautifully woven mosaic on canvas. And throughout my years, I don’t know that I’ve seen anyone any better at wielding that Tag Team brushstroke than “Loverboy”… pic.twitter.com/HL0J35uHy9
