As was advertised ahead of tonight’s Collision, the company addressed the future of the currently vacant AEW TBS Championship.

During tonight’s show, commentator Tony Schiavone revealed that over the course of the next month, a series of six matches will take place on Dynamite and Collision.

The winner of these six matches will compete in AEW’s first-ever Survival of the Fittest Match to earn the right to become the new TBS Champion. That match will take place on the July 1 episode of Wednesday Night Dynamite, which will take place in San Diego, California.

Check out AEW’s announcement below:

As previously noted, Willow Nightingale relinquished the championship on the May 20 episode of Dynamite due to a shoulder injury. She also pulled out of the Women’s Owen Hart Cup. The now-former TBS Champion was scheduled to face Alex Windsor in the first round of the tournament at Double or Nothing. That match was ultimately canceled.

AEW has yet to announce the participants for the six qualifying matches for the decisive Survival of the Fittest Match. 411Mania will provide updates as and when they are available.
