AEW’s Rebel Announces Cancer Diagnosis, Other Health Issues
Rebel took to social media over the weekend to announce that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer. The AEW star, aka Tanea Brooks, posted to her Instagram account with a video revealing the news. You can check it out in full below.
Rebel noted that she has primary pulmonary lymphoma. She said that her hospitalization in May of 2024 for pneumonia turned out to be a misdiagnosis.
Rebel noted that if there’s a best-case scenario for the cancer then she has it, though she is also dealing with other health issues. She has a functional neurological disorder that has caused a speech issue, required the use of a walker, and taken away some function in her right hand. It was noted that she has to clear an infection before the cancer can be dealt with.
Rebel added that she will be starting rehab for her disorder on Monday. She hopes to regain her function and be done with rehab in December so she can determine the next steps.
Rebel has not been seen on AEW TV since Britt Baker turned babyface in early 2023. On behalf of 411, our best wishes to Rebel in her recovery.
