Aubrey Edwards Says Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr. Is Her Favorite Match She’s Refereed
Aubrey Edwards has named Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr’s match at AEW WrestleDream as her favorite match that she’s ever refereed. Edwards was asked the question during her interview with Casual Conversations With The Classic and named the match between the two technical experts as the top choice on her resume.
“I think the one that stands out the most in my mind is WrestleDream last year with Bryan Danielson versus Zack Sabre Jr,” Edwards said (per Fightful). “I remember when it got announced, I saw the graphic backstage, and I immediately text Paul Turner, who’s our senior official and does all the assignments. I go, ‘Paul, I know I don’t ask for anything often, but this was literally my dream match before I ever stepped into the ring, so can I please do this?’ He said, ‘Sure, yeah, no problem.’ Then the day of, we actually found out that it was right before the Jericho match, so I had to do a hour straight in the ring for that show.”
She continued, “I was sick the weekend before, so I could only breathe out of one nostril, and both my matches went extremely well, so I’m like, ‘Dude, this is my [Michael] Jordan flu game. This is awesome.” [Laughs] But also incredible. Bryan Danielson’s one of the greatest of all time, if not the greatest of all time. Zack Sabre Jr. is one of the best technical wrestlers of all time, and seeing those two guys step in the ring, and being a part of it, I love technical wrestling, so being a part of that was both meaningful for me as a referee as it was a true masterclass of, this is a number of skillsets that we have to teach referees as they’re coming up in the indies, but also just as a fan, I’m sitting there like, ‘How freaking cool is this?’”
Danielson defeated Sabre in the match, with Sabre getting the win back at NJPW The New Beginning In Osaka earlier this year.
