Roman Reigns has left the building, or rather, he left the Paris La Défense Arena earlier today on a stretcher at WWE Clash in Paris. WWE ran a beatdown angle, with The Vision’s Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker horrendously and brutally attacking Roman Reigns after he defeated Reed. PWInsider has more details on the beatdown angle.

PWInsider reports, as some fans have already surmised, that the Roman Reigns beatdown angle was done to write Reigns off of WWE TV, as he starts filming his work on Legendary’s new Street Fighter movie very soon. The former WWE Champion has been cast as Akuma in the upcoming feature. Reigns is reportedly going to begin working on the film next week, hence his being written off of WWE TV tonight.

PWInsider also reports that Reigns is expected to be working on the project until the end of September, and he’s expected to wrap filming the week of September 26 as long as everything runs on schedule. WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is also featured in the cast as Colonel William F. Guile. NJPW star and former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto is playing E. Honda in the film.

Street Fighter is scheduled for a theatrical release later next year.
