Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Down Slightly From Last Year’s Record Audience

Bad Bunny’s halftime show performance at Super Bowl LX nosed down in viewers from last year’s record-setting show to rank as the second-most watched halftime performance ever. As you certainly know, the rapper and WWE celebrity headlined the halftime show on Sunday for the Super Bowl. THR reports that the halftime show drew 128.2 million, while the game itself did 124.9 million viewers on the whole.

Both numbers are down slightly from last year’s numbers. The game overall was down 2.2% from last year’s 127.1 million, while the halftime show was down 3.97% from the 133.5 million who tuned in for Kendrick Lamar’s performance. Both numbers for this year still rank as the second-most watched ever.

Bunny’s performance drew advance criticism from conservative circles due to his outspoken comments against ICE, most of his catalogue being in Spanish, and his stance on several social causes. Jake Paul slammed the performance as it was going on, calling Bunny a “fake American citizen” which he later clarified to mean someone who is an American citizen that criticizes the US. Turning Point USA held an “alternative” halftime show headlined by WWE Hall of Fame celebrity Kid Rock, which the New York Times reports had 6.1 million concurrent users watching on YouTube at its high point.

Seth Rollins praised the performance by Bad Bunny on Good Morning Football, calling the messaging of the performance “beautiful.”
