Bandido & Brody King Open Up About Brodido, What Clicks For Them As A Duo, & Their Goal To Defend AEW World Tag Team Title In Japan

AEW stars Bandido and Brody King, collectively known as Brodido, have been ruling the company’s tag team division since July 2025.

The duo won the AEW World Tag Team Championship in a three-way match against The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) and FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) in a three-way match at Forbidden Door in London, England, this past August.

They recently retained the title against Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita at WrestleDream 2025 and are now to defend it against FTR at this month’s Full Gear pay-per-view. Ahead of their upcoming title defense, Brodido appeared on AEW Close Up, where they answered a whole host of questions from Rene Paquette. The duo opened up about how their partnership in All Elite Wrestling came to be, as well as their goals as World Tag Team Champions. They also explained what makes them tick as a tag team.

Here are some of the highlights from the interview:

Which other country would they love to defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship in?

Brody King: “I’d love to take it to Japan.”

Bandido: “Oh, yeah, me too. I would love to take it to Japan.” [6:20-625]

How did their partnership come to be in AEW?

Brody King: “I think it was one of those, like, all-star, Tony Khan, every good wrestler in a match together, and then, like, we just have great chemistry together.” [6:32-6:42]

Did Tony Khan know they had chemistry beforehand?

Brody King: “No. No, because then when we started doing the handshake, he was, like, mindful.”

Bandido: “I think that was the beginning of Brodido, the handshake. Because when we got to the ring, Tony saw us do the handshake before we went to the entrance.” [6:45-6:58]

What makes Brodido a good tag team?

Brody King: “Everyone knows we are such an oddball pairing, but I think that’s what makes the magic with us. Neither one of us is trying to be like the other. I mean, except for him being freakishly strong. We’re never trying to, like, step on each other’s toes. We try to complement each other in that way and figure out how we can utilize each other in those ways.” [7:15 onward]

“Oh, number one. It’s been an amazing year. I’m just having a good time. And also I really love to take the match with him as a tag team; you know, he’s very smart. He knows everything about the styles, and I think I just complement him.” [7:58 onward]
