Bruce Prichard On Why He Never Got an Offer to Jump to WCW, Whether He Would Have If Asked

July 27, 2019 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

– Doing a listener Q&A on the latest Something to Wrestle With, Bruce Prichard discussed why he never got an offer from Eric Bischoff to jump from WWE to WCW during the Monday Night War, and whether he would have done so. Of course, during that era talent was regularly jumping from one brand to another, with most of the early defections coming from WWE to WCW. As Prichard said it, Bischoff never thought he’d leave the company.

Highlights from the discussion, as well as the full podcast, are below:

On if he would have jumped ship: “The answer’s no, but it probably would have depended on the mood I was in that day. For me to try it on and listen to it, and examine it. You know, there were days when you would be just so tired, and just so frustrated that you’d say ‘I’d rather be anywhere but here.’ When you’re able to look back on it, say ‘Ehh, probably wouldn’t have gone anywhere.’ But it never happened.”

On talking to Bischoff about it: “I can tell you that Eric and I have had discussions where I’ve said, ‘What about me, a**hole? Hey man? You never called me!’ And Eric thought that Pat Patterson and I were the two people that would never leave. So he never did, but I probably would have thought about it. But I don’t think I would have gone.”
