Chad Gable Reflects on Winning WWE Intercontinental Championship in Front of His Friends & Family at SummerSlam

Chad Gable recently reflected on winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship in front of his family and friends last month. As noted, the Olympian finally captured the elusive IC Championship from Penta in front of his home fans in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at WWE SummerSlam 2026. His family joined him in the ring for the post-match celebrations.

During a recent appearance on Complex Graps, Gable reflected on what was an extremely special night for him and his family, stating that it was meant to happen the way it did. Here’s what he said:

“I mean, it’s almost hard to put into words, like, how crazy it is that it worked out that way. That SummerSlam this year, just a couple of months after this Mask match, where I got some of my momentum, just happened to be in my hometown. I don’t know, man, things are meant to be a certain way. So, things turned out this way, I think; it was always meant to be. The highs, the lows that led us there, they were there for a reason, and I got to see why personally, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Not only did I get to have my family there, but also just friends and relatives from my past. All these people- it was just a special night, man.”
