Clark Connors looks to be heading to AEW, with the NJPW star’s signing coming soon according to a new report. As reported in late December, Connors’ contract was expected to expire toward the end of January.
Connors was said to be exploring his options outside of the US, and Fightful Select reports that Connors is expected to sign with AEW imminently. The outler confirmed that an offer was on the table that will be finalized soon.
Connors appeared on AEW Collision and faced Darby Allin in a singles match, in which Connors looked strong but ultimately lost. After the match, he helped Gabe Kidd assault Allin. It is worth noting that Bryan Alvarez mentioned on Wrestling Observer Live that Connors is signed to AEW.
Fightful Select also notes that sources in AEW believe that Connor’s pending signing also suggests that AEW has an increased interest in David Finlay, who is also heading into free agency. Finlay was reported as having his contract expire soon and was exploring his options outside of NJPW, with a particular interest in working in America. It was reported in January that WWE was interested in bringing Finlay into the company, and that NJPW was interested in retaining him as a talent.
