CM Punk to Cody Rhodes: ‘You Get a Rematch Any Time You Want’

Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk isn’t happy with the way he won the title match against Cody Rhodes at WWE SummerSlam: Minnesota last weekend and has proposed a solution for it.

As noted, Randy Orton’s interference helped Punk retain the Undisputed WWE Title against The American Nightmare in the penultimate match of SummerSlam 2026 Night One. Punk expressed his dissatisfaction with Randy’s interference at the post-show, as he called out The Viper.

Punk and Cody teamed up at a WWE live event in Fairfax, Virginia, to take on Gunther and Ricky Saints. After the match, the Chicago native grabbed a microphone and admitted that the way he won at SummerSlam was “dirty.” Punk gave Cody his flowers, praising the latter for being the face of the company for the past four years and admitting that one can’t be a champion until they beat a champion.

Punk admitted that while there are several contenders to his title, including current number-one contender Kevin Owens, in the locker room, he is willing to give Cody Rhodes a rematch anytime Cody wants. Here’s what CM Punk said:

“Now, Cody, over the past couple of weeks, the Road to SummerSlam has been a lot of ‘He said, she said,’ accidents, on-purposes, a lot of talk about friendship. To me, you’re not the champ until you beat the champ. You’re somebody who has been the face of this company for over four years. You’ve done everything. You’ve said yes to everything, these people love you, and I love you. The way that SummerSlam went down, the way I won, it’s dirty. I don’t like it. Now, I know that there’s a ton of guys in the back that want a shot at the champion. There are number one contenders, there are superstars who deserve a shot based on the currency they have with the audience, but you my friend, you get a rematch any time you want.”

Punk is set for a face-off with Kevin Owens on tonight’s SmackDown. Owens returned to WWE programming at SummerSlam 2026 Night One and subsequently won the Fatal Four-Way number-one contender’s match by pinning Sami Zayn. You can check out the footage of CM Punk’s comments below:
