Former AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Vikingo recently provided an update on his recovery status post-knee surgery.
As noted, Vikingo suffered a knee injury while preparing for his Latin American Championship defense against EK Prosper ahead of the June 30 episode of WWE NXT. The match was subsequently canceled, and the AAA star was written off via a backstage attack from Keanu Carver. Due to the injury, Vikingo was forced to relinquish the championship, and the 29-year-old has since undergone surgery.
Vikingo recently appeared on WWE Ahora, where he revealed his recovery status. The former AAA Mega Champion revealed he has started walking sooner than expected, and the doctors are impressed with his progress.
Here’s what he said [translation via Fightful]:
“I’m doing very well. I am still young, and my recovery is going very well. The doctors have been impressed with my progress; I’ve started walking sooner than expected. Of course, still going step-by-step. They told (me) I’m doing well, but I shouldn’t rush things. Sometimes it’s stressful being at home after being on the road for so long. On the other hand, I’m with my kids and my wife, so I have been enjoying more time with them.”
After Vikingo relinquished the AAA Latin American Championship, a new champion was crowned via a Fatal Four-Way Match at Ola de Calor. La Parka defeated Damian Priest, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., and El Fiscal to capture the title.
