Reigning IWGP Tag Team Champion HENARE recently reflected on competing on AEW television earlier this year.
On the April 8, 2026, episode of AEW Dynamite, HENARE teamed up with his United Empire stablemates Will Ospreay, Callum Newman, and Francesco Akira to take on the Death Riders in a ‘Chaos in Canada’ match.
The 20-minute-50-second bout ultimately ended in the United Empire’s favor. In a recent interview with NJPW, HENARE said that competing on AEW TV raised his and the group’s stock in Japan and around the world. He further revealed that more people have since started recognizing him on the streets back at home in New Zealand.
He said:
“The reception when we did that was insane. It raised our stock here in Japan, as well as around the world, certainly in the US and even at home for me in New Zealand as well. I had more people recognizing me on the street. So it was a nice reminder that we are that good, and all we needed was the proof. And now we have the proof.”
