Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of Saturday Night’s Main Event, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. With Clash in Italy next week this edition of SNME is staying away from most of the talent on that show being in any strenuous matches, the only overlap being WWE women’s champion Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill being on opposite ends in a trios match tonight. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have some good matches here. Penta defending the Intercontinental title against Ethan Page has a ton of potential for example. The World tag team titles are up for grabs as Austin Theory and Logan Paul defend against the Street Profits, and the women’s tag belts are on the line when Brie Bella and Paige defend against the Irresistible Forces. The aforementioned 6 woman tag sees Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, and Charlotte Flair as tag partners who don’t quite get along taking on Jade Cargill and her job squad of Michin and B-Fab. Don’t be terribly surprised if Fatal Influence winds up being involved in this somehow. Becky Lynch will take on Sol Ruca in non-title action to round out the card. So basically, and increasingly per usual, 1 Smackdown match and a bunch of RAW stuff on the more important events. But that’s the preamble, so let’s get to the action.

Michael Cole and Wade Barrett welcome us to the show.

Up first, the six woman tag team match. Rhea Ripley comes out first, followed by her partners. Jade Cargill along with tweedle dee and tweedle dumb follow. Jade and company have Michael Jackson inspired outfits.

Match #1 – 6 Woman Tag Team Match: Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss vs. Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab

Ripley and Jade start, but Jade immediately tags in B-Fab. Ripley avoids a pump kick, B-Fab avoids a back suplex, counters a suplex but Ripley levels her with a clothesline. Bliss tags in now, Ripley pointedly did not tag Charlotte there. Head scissors from Bliss and Michin then tags in. Bliss with a flurry of offense, because Michin is comically below Bliss in the pecking order. Charlotte tags in now and helps Bliss dropkick Michin. A few of the usual spots from Charlotte then chops. B-Fab tags in, and Charlotte immediately hits the Lethal Combination into the corner. Bliss with a cross body to B-Fab, Jade yanks Bliss out of the ring and super kicks her. Jade gets in the ring to distract Charlotte, then cheap shots Ripley. Michin attacks Charlotte from behind and it takes all three women to put Charlotte on the back foot. Jade tags in and Charlotte takes a bit of heat while the heels do the frequent tag thing.

Some corner stomps from B-Fab then Jade tags back in. Pushups from Jade, Charlotte fights back with a chop but Jade clubs her then tags in Michin. Michin with a suplex. Front headlock from Michin, I think it’s supposed to be a guillotine. Charlotte fights free, drops Jade and B-Fab in the corner then Michin puts her up to for an avalanche hurricanrana which gets a 2 count. B-Fab tags in and works to keep Charlotte from tagging out, eventually B-Fab cheap shots Bliss then we get a sloppy double pump kick spot. B-Fab really isn’t good at this. Michin tags in, and Charlotte does tag in Ripley. Ripley with a dropkick to Jade then she unloads on Michin with clotheslines. Ripley runs through her usual offensive spots, she heads up top and hits a lovely missile dropkick for a near fall. Jade might have missed her cue to break up that pin and Michin had to kick. Michin avoids Riptide as Jade comes in to get kicked by Ripley, that allows Michin to try Eat Defeat but Ripley counters, then stalls a head scissors only for Michin to hit a Poisoned Rana.

Ripley with a capoeira kick to Michin then tags in Bliss. Bliss with a satellite DDT to Michin. Michin with a jawbreaker then tags in B-Fab, who immediately runs into an attempted Sister Abigail’s DDT. B-Fab avoids that though and hits a DDT. Michin tags back in and Bliss counters a double suplex with a double DDT. Charlotte remembers she’s alive and tags in and spikes Michin with a German suplex. Michin kicks off a Figure 4 spot, Ripley then takes a cheap shot and Michin hits Charlotte with a Styles Clash, but Ripley breaks up the pin with a Shining Wizard. Everyone gets a turn to get their stuff in, leaving Bliss and Jade squared up. Charlotte boots Jade to save Bliss and then those two pose. Michin and B-Fab attack Bliss and Charlotte to leave everyone down.

Ripley and Jade both wind up tagged in, they start trading elbows then punches, Ripley avoids a pump kick and lands a headbutt then hits Riptide but Michin breaks up the pin. Michin with a superkick to Charlotte, Bliss wipes her out but B-Fab with a pump kick to Bliss. Charlotte thrust kicks B-Fab then she and Ripley nearly shake hands but Ripley has to superkick Michin. Charlotte and Ripley with stereo fall away slams and they shake hands, then Bliss jumps in for a group hug. Jade then shoves Ripley into both Charlotte and Bliss, hits a pump kick, and Jaded to win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Jade Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin won in 16:50

Rating: 2.5 stars
Thoughts: They had to salt this a fair bit as B-Fab and Michin are still clearly levels below everyone on the other side. This also lost cohesion and structure at several points. Commentary also felt a little all over the place, Barrett keeps mixing up his names and it was distracting. Jade pinning Ripley isn’t a bad call, but man what a weird way to get there as she just kind of hulked up and took out everyone by herself at the end.

In the back Cathy talks with Ethan Page as he’s preparing for his match with Penta. Page is his usual smarmy self, and he calls this the biggest night for the IC title as it can finally get to be around Page’s waist. He puts over Penta as a fighting champion, but his whole reign has been designed to give the belt to Page in the main event tonight. Good stuff from Page.

At gorilla Cathy talks with Sol Ruca. Sol says Becky has done nothing but underestimate her since Sol got to RAW, and after one Sol Snatcher she’ll know the future is here. Sol heads to the ring, then Becky gets walk and talk to the ring. She just does her usual lines, nothing new or interesting.

Becky attacks before the bell, then demands the ref ring the bell. The ref does not oblige so Becky argues with her until Sol fights back with a clothesline.

Match #2: Sol Ruca vs. Becky Lynch

Now the bell rings, Sol with a spinning back suplex into a face buster. Becky misses an enziguri then Sol with a springboard crossbody and her usual athletic misdirection then a super kick. Sort of Buckshot Lariat, that just looked awkward. Becky heads to the floor but Sol lands a kick then a running orihara moonsault. Back in the ring Becky avoids a Sol Snatcher, Sol blocks a Manhandle Slam and goes after Becky in the corner. There’s an almost comical speed difference here. Becky runs into a kick, then sort of pulls the ref into Sol’s Sol Snatcher attempt. That was awkward as heck, but the ref DQs Becky for yanking her into the attack..

OFFICIAL RESULT: Sol Ruca won via Disqualification in 2:28

Rating: Angle, not a match
Thoughts: I’m going to start using that designation as a rating going forward, it feels unfair to call this a DUD because that wouldn’t be fully accurate. But this was an angle, and this as well as the post match stuff was the wrestling equivalent of “this meeting could have been an e-mail”.

Post match Becky whacks Sol with the belt and hits a Manhandle Slam. Another Manhandle Slam from Becky, the crowd want a third so Becky obliges them before leaving.

Penta video, he warns Page that tonight the talking ends and the fighting begins. Penta fights with fire, and never backs down. Page is an arrogant clown, while Penta fights for the title and his people. Penta did that surrounded by fire, pretty good stuff.

That sends us to our first commercial break.

We come back to a recap of what just happened between Sol and Becky.

In the back Becky walks and finds Nick Aldis. Aldis just heard from Adam Pearce and says Becky will fight Sol in Clash in Italy for the women’s IC title. OK then, again, angle not a match.

Elsewhere Cathy talks with the Irresistible Forces of Nia Jax and Lash Legend. Jax and Lash run down the nostalgia tour of Brie Bella and Paige, and they’ll make Brie and Page history tonight. Still not great from either woman but Lash is slowly making improvements on the mic.

Back to the ring, IC title time. Huh, that really should have been the main event. Special in ring introductions for this one.

Match #3 – Intercontinental Title Match: (c) Penta vs. Ethan Page

Both men circle, they trade go behinds then Penta with back elbows and hits the ropes before kicking Page in the body. Page avoids a corner attack and lands right hands. Penta into the ropes and hits a hurricanrana then a tilt a whirl backbreaker. Page counters a springboard move with a dropkick and takes over with mounted punches. Bit of a Snake Eyes from Penta then a springboard arm drag and superkick to send Page out of the ring. On the floor Penta hits another superkick but then charges Page and gets hit with a back body drop onto and over the announce table. The re is counting, Page can’t with the belt that way and toes back out to get Penta. Page rams Penta into the ring post a few times, when Page gets going he almost froths at the mouth and that’s kind of great. Back in the ring Page starts going after the upper back of Penta then grabs a chin lock.

Penta fights free with strikes but Page slams him back down by the head then hits a sliding kick for a 2 count then back to the chin lock. Penta fights back with chops and a Sling Blade. Gamen giri in the corner then a handstand mule kick by Penta. Page rolls out of the ring and Penta with a lovely dive and both men are down. Both men get back in the ring before the 10 count, Penta heads up top and hits a glancing cross body, that was a little awkward. Page with a boot then heads up top but Penta chops him. Penta up top with Page, Page shoves him to the apron but Penta chops him then does a lovely head scissors back into the ring and hits a springboard DDT for a near fall. Penta wants the Penta Driver but Page fights that off then boots Penta and hits a second rope kick then a power slam for a 2 count of his own. Penta with an up and over Backstabber for a 2 count.

Now they start trading strikes and chops, Page with elbows but then runs into a superkick, but he returns it. We get a double high kick, then double pump kick and both men are down. Both men stagger up, Penta with a superkick but then Page counters with a Confidence Breaker (code breaker pretty much) for a 2 count. Penta counters an Ego Plex into the Penta Driver for a really nice near fall. Now Peta calls for the Destroyer but Page counters with a high knee then he gets Penta up top. Page climbs up with Penta and they slug it out on the ropes, Penta winds up on Page’s back, Page yanks the mask of Penta to pull him around for an avalanche powerslam for another 2 count. That drives Page nuts and he unloads punches then yanks off a corner buckle. The ref goes to replace it, Page then takes off another one and Penta runs into it but still kicks at 2 on the follow up School Boy from Page. Now Page goes into the exposed Steel and Penta with the springboard Mexican Destroyer to retain the belt.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Peta retained the title in 14:23

Rating: 3 stars
Thoughts: Really good stuff from both men, Page was happy to slug it out with Penta while Penta’s high octane offense remains lovely to watch. I wouldn’t hate more of these two down the road, Page clearly has all the tools and Penta doesn’t seem like he’s going anywhere.

In the back Cathy talks with Paige and Brie Bella. They say they’ve been written off by everyone but they’ve got each others backs. They might be underdogs but they believe in themselves. This whole thing wasn’t supposed to happen, but it did and it will continue.

That sends us back to break.

We come back to the Street Profits getting some hype video. They’re going to get the world tag team titles tonight. It’s the usual hype job from the Profits, which is to say high quality.

Back to the ring, the Irresistible Forces head out first followed by the champs. Hopefully Lash got her sloppiness out of her system last night because if she gets that loose with Paige and Brie she might legitimately hurt them.

Match #4 – Women’s Tag Team Title Match: (c) Paige and Brie Bella vs. Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend)

Sort of double dropkick to Lash to start then Paige and Brie hit a double Bulldog onto Jax. Page follows with a running kick for a 1 count. Brie tags in for an ax handle, then she goes up top again for a second, but Jax catches her on a third then hits a Samoan Drop for a 2 count. Lash tags in, Brie fights out of the corner though with boots, Lash blocks a tag but misses a pump kick and Paige tags in. Sort of a double Codebreaker to Lash, then Paige reminds us this is her house again. Jax distracts Paige so Lash hits a pump kick to crickets. Some wrist control shoulder blocks from Lash then a running Splash for 2. Jax tags in and chops away at Paige then grabs a Cobra Clutch rest hold. Paige tries to fight back but Jax slings her into the corner. Lash tags back in and does some corner whips then a clothesline.

Full Nelson from Lash, Paige fights back and Lash tosses her down. Jax tags back in, they take a long time getting her in as the ref seems to relay information around the wrestlers. Some corner avalanches from Jax then she tags Lash back in. Paige low bridges Lash then crawls towards the tag but Lash stops her anyway and tags Jax back in. Jax posts herself charging at Paige and Brie gets the tag. Brie with a top rope missile dropkick, then she wanders around before landing kicks to Jax. Knee to Lash then a rope knee to Jax for a 2 count. Jax cares not for any of this and hits a pop up headbutt. Lash tags in, Jax hits a Samoan Drop and Lash follows with a second rope Splash but no cover from her. Jax tags in, they want the Death Sentence and hit it but Paige kicks Lash who falls onto the pin and saves the match. Paige tags back in and comes off the top but Jax catches her, Paige then with a Sunset Flip and Brie adds a little extra leverage to get the 3 count.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Paige and Brie Bella retained the titles in 8:25

Rating: 2 stars
Thoughts: OK match but Lash’s control stuff still feels off. She wanders around doing taunts rather than actually form connective tissue for her work and it’s becoming more and more annoying. Jax still just lumbers around, Paige’s timing felt a little better here but physically she still looks a little off. I’m not sure what happened in the middle of this match but things felt like a few times each of them lost their spot in the match and things had to reset.

Commentary run down the Clash in Italy card.

Cathy talks with the Vision and Paul Heyman. Heyman says the Profits will be denied tonight. Theory and Logan, who look like the most generic tag team from the early 2000’s that got cut once the WCW roster showed up, chime in. Logan and Theory say the titles are for the vision, not the Profits. Theory isn’t being done any favors with this pairing or being with the Vision in general. That sends us to break.

Post break here come the Street Profits, followed by the Vision.

Match #5 – World Tag Team Title Match: (c) The Vision (Austin Theory and Logan Paul) w/ Paul Heyman vs. Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins)

Ford and Theory start us off, the crowd have some pointed jeers for Logan and don’t care about Theory at all. Eventually Ford rolls up Theory for 2. Finally they tie up, Theory then hits a shoulder block. Another tie up, this time Ford grabs the side headlock. Theory counters into a side headlock then hits the ropes and hits another shoulder block. Logan tags in and wants a test of strength, then goes to a cheap shot when Ford obliges. Shoulder block from Logan. Ford has had enough of this and kips up, then does some gymnastics before arm dragging Logan repeatedly and landing a dropkick. Logan powders but when he gets back in he eats a dropkick. Dropkick for Theory as well then Dawkins tags in and Logan takes a double Flapjack, then one for Theory that drops him onto Logan.

Ford and Dawkins clear the ring and Heyman tries to rally the troops. They all decide to leave, take the count out loss and retain. Ford and Dawkins attack them on the ramp and everyone brawls back to the ring side area. Dawkins and Logan wind up back in the ring and Dawkins runs through some of his usual corner offense. Boot from Dawkins, a clothesline to Theory as well but Logan uppercuts Dawkins down. Logan with a cheap shot to Ford then some mounted punches to Dawkins. Theory tags back in and hits a butterfly suplex. Some pushups from Theory, we’ve already had that spot tonight my man. Logan back in and Dawkins takes a double shoulder block. Chin lock from Logan, Dawkins fights free of that and tries tag but Logan is stopping him then lands a clothesline to floor Dawkins. Theory tags back in and hits some punches. Some corner work from Theory, we’re running short on time here people.

Dawkins with a boot out of the corner, then he misdirects Logan out of the ring but Logan is in prime position to yank Ford off the apron and prevent the tag. Logan tags back in and fires some body shots to Dawkins. Theory back in, this thing is losing steam but the people still hate Logan. Dawkins fights back and hits a neckbreaker on Theory that made Theory DDT Logan. Ford finally gets the hot tag and hits an enormous top rope back elbow, good grief that man can fly. Ford gets to run wild on Logan and Theory, he catches a rolling Theory with a powerslam and standing moonsault for 2. Theory lands a back elbow, Logan with a blind tag as Theory lands a rolling punch then Logan with a Buckshot Lariat for a near fall. Again Theory tags in, Ford fights back and launches Logan to the apron, odd landing there. Dawkins tags in, and Pounces Theory into a back suplex from Ford. Ford with a suicide dive onto Logan, then he heads back up to tag in and hit the gorgeous Doomsday Blockbuster but Logan still manages to break up the pin.

Logan gets sent out of the ring by Dawkins, Ford then with a leap over the corner and onto both Logan and Theory. Bronn Breakker runs down but Ford jumps over him and Dawkins Pounces him over the table. Anointment from Dawkins, Ford From The Heavens but Heyman gets Theory’s foot on the ropes to save the titles. Ford menaces Heyman, then jumps into Logan brass knuckles shot. Dawkins then dives onto Logan but Theory covers Ford to win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: The Vision retained the titles in 16:30

Rating: 3 stars
Thoughts: The really weak middle segment hurt this but the crowd was into it especially by the end. The cheap finish is more than played out with these guys though, and the diminishing returns are starting to set in. A slightly more smooth middle section and this could have hit 3.5 stars.

Post match Bron runs back down and Spears Dawkins. Another Spear for Ford as well, because who doesn’t love the same thing every time? Logan and Theory head back to the ring as well so everyone can pose as the episode ends.
