Former WWE and TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle recently picked a modern lineup for the Main Event Mafia.
During its two stints in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, the Main Event Mafia featured Angle, Sting, Booker T, Kevin Nash, Samoa Joe, Scott Steiner, and Magnus.
During a recent conversation with Men’s Journal (via Gambling.com), Kurt was asked to reimagine the faction with current wrestlers across promotions. The Olympian chose Roman Reigns, Gunther, Kenny Omega, and CM Punk as his four members. However, Kurt wasn’t sure whether the new version of the group would match the OG version of the Main Event Mafia. Here’s what he said:
Kurt Angle reveals his dream modern-day Main Event Mafia lineup
“Oh, man, I’d have to pick four members. I would say Roman Reigns, definitely. Gunther, because you need the muscle. You need the goon. I would also say Kenny Omega because you’re going to need the athleticism. I’d also go with CM Punk because you need the attitude. That would be my dream Main Event Mafia.”
On whether it’d be better than the OG version
“I don’t know if I’d like it better than the version of the faction we had. I mean, I teamed up with Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Booker T, and Sting teaming up. That was pretty legendary. But that new group; maybe it’s good. Maybe it’s good.”
Meanwhile, in November 2024, Kurt revealed his disappointment with how the TNA faction played out. Check his comments RIGHT HERE.
